Winchester Lake State Park

33 minutes southeast of Lewiston off US 95

Winchester Lake State Park surrounds a 103-acre lake, nestled in a forested area at the foot of the Craig Mountains. The park has a modern campground. Picnicking and hiking are popular summer activities. In the winter the park offers cross-country skiing, ice skating, and ice fishing.  Winchester Lake winters are brisk, with snowfall,  and last into spring, but offer extraordinary beauty.   The summers are warm, during the day, and refreshingly cool and breathtaking, in the evenings.  There are healthy stands of Ponderosa Pine and Douglas Fir. White-tailed Deer, Racoon, Muskrat, and the Painted Turtle roam the area. The most popular activity is fishing for Rainbow Trout, Bullhead and Largemouth Bass. Small boats with no motors are allowed.
